Money and Time

Is there enough money in the world for everyone to have enough? If so, how would it affect the economy if everyone did?

Besides on hand currency, money as owned by the common people, is nothing more than ones and zeros stored inside computers. Positive and negative numbers. These positive and negative numbers are stored inside banks are the property of the bank. The negative numbers represent the monetary value of assets owned by the bank. To the extent that negative numbers in the form of loans are stored inside those banker’s computers, the associated property is owned by the bank. The person’s future positive income numbers are used to offset negative loan numbers.

Economies will always operate. If we need a currency, we can use rocks as long as our society agrees and accepts the rocks in exchange for goods and services. In the age of instant information provided by computer networks, buyers and sellers meet one another in an electronic market. Given the immediacy and persistence of information, barter economies in the modern age could work. The currency of a barter economy is comprised of products and time.

The question itself masks deeper issues. The fundamental issue is human time. Is there enough demand for human time so that everyone is able to earn money. As demand for human time decreases because of automation, where will the jobs come from?

Suppose we were to create an economy based upon the value of human time. I invest forty hours per week which established my value in the market. I am the producer of 40 hours of productivity. My time is banked and only converted to money when I have bills to pay. I pay taxes when my time is monetized. If I need to borrow extra money it is available at zero percent (0%) interest rate.

Solve poverty by lending people money and expecting them to pay it back from future monetized time investment. The book “Newland 2084” these topics and proposes a workable solution to Poverty.

Dystopia to Utopia

Is there a word for an art style or world setting that looks like cyberpunk but is utopic as opposed to dystopic?

I wrote a book “Newland 2084″ which is classified as sci-fi cyberpunk utopia. Previous discussions led me to conclude that the words “cyberpunk utopia” don’t make sense together. This answer offers insight into the words “cyberpunk”, “dystopia”, and “utopia”.

Wikipedia says Cyberpunk is a sub-genre of science fiction in a future setting that tends to focus on society as "high tech low life" featuring advanced technological and scientific achievements, such as information and cybernetics, juxtaposed with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social.
An observer of earth events today would find rapidly changing information and technology juxtaposed with a breakdown of social order. Everything is changing at a fast pace. It is the fast exchange of information that is the root cause of the dissolution of the old order and the creation of the new.

Assuming that the world behaves as a dystopic pretty much everywhere on the planet, the transition to a future world where utopias have the opportunity to emerge in a localized manner.

THE PROBLEM is in the words themselves. Assume we are now at an intermediate stepping point in the timeline of civilization. Everything is falling apart. All of our systems appear to be broken or fast becoming so. The people of the United States and elsewhere are working to make sure that the world gets put back together in a better form. That is where we are.

The root problem is easily visualized on a two dimensional graph with a dystopia being in the lower left origin point of a mathematical function starting in today’s dystopia and moving it to the right over time and upwards in the progression away from today’s dystopia towards utopia which in a goal somewhere vertical axis.

The word “dystopia” presumes disorder and progression along the horizontal time axis until order appears, order increases, sharply upward for a time as order increases to a point and then levels off. Order approaches utopia but seldom attains it. Social disorder decreases on the pathway to utopian class order.

THE ANSWER is that we are moving lots of broken systems from their current state into a future operating state that makes better sense. Every system has to get broken before it can be put back together. When enough things become broken enough and then put back again, a new and better operating forms gets built.

We are on our way as a species towards the Golden Age of ancient prophecy. The computers and the information itself are the vehicle that gets us there in most ways. We anticipate a new world where the top-down order and control hierarchy must give way to an emergent system. The deep connections at the social media layer of organizations become the new order. Control signals from above are respected but the order emerges from the bottom.

Human time is the fundamental driver of social order transformation. Capital buys human time. Without human time and energy invested the system does not run on time. That is the way it used to be.

THE ANSWER

The search for an attention grabbing genre leads to the conclusion that “cyberpunk” is the means of transforming the current dystopian into a utopia. Therefore the best distinctions might be.
  1. Sci-fi cyberpunk - classic definition
  2. Sci-fi cyberpunk dystopia - the beginning state
  3. Sci-fi cyberpunk transition, transformation, of emergence
  4. Sci-fi cyberpunk utopia - the final stable state

Learn Skills

What hard skills should one learn to maximize a positive impact on the world?
  1. Reading skills. Writing skills. Math skills. Science skills. Puzzle skills. Game skills. Brain skills are the foundation of having a self-directed intentional positive impact on the world. Brain skills have a positive impact on you. Become the idea person whose active imagination is always coming up with some new way to solve an old problem.
  2. Develop body skills too. Yoga is a great way for the body to let go of the brain. Sports are another. Go for walks and take pictures. If you are a woman take a course in self defense. Learn CPR and first aid. If you are an old person take a martial arts skills course in using a cane for self defense. Whacking somebody with a cane tends to get their attention. Learning to whack somebody with your walker is a bit over the top.
  3. Polite listening skills. Learn when to keep your mouth shut and listen to what someone is saying. Learn when to turn off the inner ego driven mouth piece that is forming gratifying words while half listening to the speaker. Listen to what they are saying. When your speech is interrupted, stop and listen. When you listen and watch, they are giving you information. Process the information carefully. Learn to observe the speaker’s body language and facial expressions for coherence with the words being spoken.
  4. Learn to ask good questions. Learn to speak well. Learn to apologize when necessary. Learn life lessons from the apologies you give.
  5. Develop an emotion vocabulary. Learn to calm your emotions. Pay attention to yours and to others. Learn empathy to deal with situational life. Learn compassion. Learn love.
  6. Pay attention to your dreams. Dreams often hold the answers. Answers will pop into the consciousness from the subconscious. In its most fundamental form life is about processing information. Discounting information from your subconscious may be unwise.
  7. Develop team working skills. Few long lasting positive impacts on the world can be implemented alone. Develop a sense presence. “I am here so things will be better.” Tighten the reins on the ego, which is the driver of getting things done.
  8. Meet people. Be watchful for serendipity. For example, you have wracked your brain for days when, in a chance encounter, you meet someone who gives you the answer. You meet someone who gives you some new narrative that changes your narrative. Why? When you meet somebody for the first time ask yourself why. Why this person? Why now? What information is exchanged? If you keep drawing a blank, pay extra attention to the next item.
  9. Find your higher power and tap into it. Learn instant forgiveness. Learn how to pray. Prayer is good because it helps order the brain. It is sometimes the trigger to the answer you need. Ask for what you need. Give a thankful prayer for what you receive. If you don’t know what to call yourself spiritually, become an Agnostic.
  10. Addiction tends to reduce ones positive impact on the world? Learn to recognize addiction in yourself. If you enjoy it and no harm comes to you or to those around you, then enjoy your addiction. Freedom gives every human that choice. Learn to stop addiction cold turkey. Learn to ask for help when you can’t. Learn to recognize addiction in others. If you think your kid might be using drugs get them in for a drug test. If you want to have a positive impact on the world, start there.

Innovation Meaning

What Does Innovation  Mean?

Innovation involves imagining a new, high utility and non obvious way that people and organizations can do the things, that they do every day, in a faster, safer, more efficient, or cheaper way. Patent your idea. I recently bought one independent claim filing for $10,000, U.S. dollars.

Innovation means that as the USA economy opens the doorways to small scale, entrepreneurship solutions delivered to market. Learn about 3D printing because you will use it for printing up a prototype of your invention. Look into makerspaces as places to learn how to make prototypes, by brains on and hands on learning.

Create a co-operative with like minded people to help you further your invention. Newland Cooperative of Minnesota Newland Coop seeks to host idea people inside co-operative incubators where they can meet time investors with the requisite skills to help out getting the idea off the ground. Social media is powerful.

Everybody shares in downstream idea income so they each get repaid for their time investment, based upon their overall level of involvement. Checkout my blog for additional information. LynoMN at blogspot.

World One President

What would happen if the world had only one President?

A position of one president does not make sense in the modern world. We are quickly replacing top down command and control hierarchies. Top down governance and control is giving way to technology driven bottom up innovation, entrepreneurship, and innovative democratic control solutions. (See LivingVote governance solution)

Emergent solutions. Bottom up governance. Social order and control is moving to the bottom of the organization. Organizations are defined by the deep social connections made down in the social media layer of society.

In the 2016 election in the U.S. the governance model flipped upside down. Top down one world order solutions have lost their footing. They establishment continues to close ranks against Trump. Bottom-up governance of local solutions will prevail, more so than ever before. The longer bottom up social behavior continues to build, the more political inertia they will gain. Eventually top-down hierarchies will wither. The people will thrive in Western style democracy.

Keep Journal

KEEP A JOURNAL

Learn to keep a journal. Use a bound journal. Number and date each page. I always use odd page numbers on the left and even on the right. I write and draw two page spreads. I prefer a wire bound center that unfolds to 8.5 x 11″ paper size for easy photocopying.

Use lined paper and print your lettering so others can read it. Keep track of all ideas of things that might someday be a patent. Talk about things you would like to build. Important lessons you have learned. Odd little facts and such. Learn to draw your ideas. Patents require drawings and writings.

Keep other people’s private info elsewhere. Don’t put your personal info in your journal because you must be able to share your journal with friends.

Keep a couple pages in the back to note significant pages you have produced. It will be an index you will use many times.

Hand write a story that explores a world you want to write about. Hand write and draw your book. Work out some characters and such. If it is good type it up and get it printed. I have used CreateSpace with excellent results.

Political Funding

We can design a political system in which elections are not funded by wealth. But why should we?
We must assure there is full and transparent detailed transaction trail of all campaign donations.

Suppose there was a new kind of political system that was based of a new voting model. It would be a democracy founded by common consent. Suppose we created a way of voting where a person could vote NO today, learn more information, change their vote to YES. If 70% of the voting voters say YES the measure passes until such time as the YES vote falls to 30%. The 70/30% rule could be set at 60/40 for matters of lesser importance. Apply it to each item and consider geographic proximity to impact. Read “Newland 2084” for more details.

It would simply be too expensive to reach voters who vote one way today and another way next week. Because of the premium value placed upon human time, big vendors would pay people per hour to watch and interact with their marketing software.

As presented this alternative to current Democratic Republics becomes voting by the ever evolving Will of Humans who vote. And then they change their mind. The tally changes and life goes on.

SAMPLE BALLOT

Should government be denied the right to all manner of direct taxation of the people, including humans and their incorporations and SHALL instead be by sales tax of 10% upon the financial amount of every transaction without deduction or exemption, and an additional 1% sales tax will be paid to pay off the national debt.

YES or NO

Rural Innovation

Rural area innovation depends upon the local context. Best areas of innovation meet local needs concerning land ownership, water supply, waste removal and recycling, available natural resources, supplies, local sales markets, transportation, remote sales markets, storage, vendor services available and needed, the labor market, the capital market, banking, and a myriad more.

Wisconsin Farm

The humans of a rural geographic polygon hold interests in common. Consider the application of the cooperative business model within a rural area. The book “Newland 2084” covers the application of co-operatives to human problems like solving poverty.

Why choose the co-operative business model? It offers many advantages and capabilities.
  1. Money and money management. The co-operative business model is the best way to handle money and money management. Every member gets a vote on money matters overseen by the treasurer. The money flow is made transparent to the members which reduces the risk of corruption
  2. Time and time management. There is cooperative business to be done that demands human time. The pool of available human time is the cooperatives greatest resource and it needs to be managed well. The time accounting records are made transparent to the members which encourages honesty and fairness.
  3. Facilities and equipment. The co-operative may provide shared facilities and equipment to its members. Financing of facilities and equipment becomes a shared responsibility.
  4. Supplies and products. Co-operative members must decide on and manage suppliers and vendors. Products must be delivered to market and sold to customers.
  5. Social media expertise helps in handling procurement, sales, public relations, and fund raising activities.

In all of these areas and more, the social community that emerges in a co-operative demonstrates to all concerned that nobody has to go it alone.

Carbon Gasification

Big picture goals for human civilization upon earth include how we handle carbon. How much carbon do we bring to the earth’s surface? Where do we stash carbon when it is not in the atmosphere? These are decent questions. Intellectual spins to the contrary the truth is simple to understand.
To remove CO2 from the atmosphere plant trees. BTU is the measure of energy. The USA uses about 100 quadrillion BTUs of energy from carbon resources every year. The best place to sequester excess carbon is in plastic. Gather up CO2 and feed it to methanogen bacteria. Produce methane.

If you want to do the most that you can for a rural area, it would be to install carbon gasification capabilities for breaking carbon sources down  into individual carbon atoms and then recombining them into fuels, polymers, and plastics. The ash remaining from the final carbon extraction process is fine grained ash useful in ceramics and cement.

Build a carbon gasification campus for a community of 12,000 humans. Produce product dimethyl ether DME and watch the boutique cooperative industries that will emerge around polymers. Local community supplies of sticky polymers to glue stuff together and create beautiful composites. DME burns as clean diesel. As the final form of the carbon atom flow onto the earth’s surface consider the value of plastics to USA society.

Besides is utility value, plastic serves as the ultimate sequestration sink of carbon. The carbon is easily recovered by using gasification back to DME. This creates a local community closed cycle carbon flow system.

Back to planet earth and what is innovative in rural areas. Get some skilled idea people together in a co-operative. Put them to the task of imagining a rural area connected to the internet with local idea people, innovators and entrepreneurs, figuring out how to build a boutique plastics industry around the polymer and plastic output of carbon gasification and participation in the DME economy.

Jobs To Survive

Quora question and my answer.

Imagine a world where no one has to have a job to comfortably survive. What activities would we invent to infuse our lives with meaning and structure?

In a future utopian world, where no one has to have a job to comfortably survive, is ambiguous in the phrase “no one has to have a job” which implies a choice of whether or not jobs exist and one can have one. The word “comfortable” would be measured in whose estimation? According to what criteria?

Clearly some number of humans have to work at jobs in order to make sure the undesirable jobs get done and, more important, to make sure dangerous and risky work like mining be done by the remote control of an experienced operator. Cops have to break up domestic conflicts. People get sick and need surgery. There is critical work that must be done. Spreadsheet estimates place the amount of human time consumed by essential of education, health care, and elder care services to be one third of the time available. The remaining two thirds is for everything else.

Entrepreneurs would still have ideas and want to build businesses to fill time and make money. Does money even need to exist? Maybe all we need to keep track of is human time. Your value to society of one hour of your time is one hour times your value multiplier, based on education, experience and age. People are going to entertain one another. Plays need to be written. Movies will still need to be made. Producers create products for which consumers will pay money.

Life will change with each passing generation. There will always be new fads to enthrall us. We will live in a world of plastic objects printed by 3D printers. We do this today. We will make composite materials many times stronger than steel. The amount of carbon brought to the earth’s surface is immaterial provided, the carbon is sequestered in plastic. Putting carbon into the atmosphere has its side effects. Therefore the future will be in polymers, plastics, composites, and high quality ash from carbon gasification.

If those who live in those utopian days have the free time implicit is the question. What they will the do to fill their allotted time of life with very much what we would do if we had more time and we didn’t have to work for wages to pay the bills.
  1. Personal health and happiness
  2. Family, friends, and meeting new people
  3. Education
  4. Producing and consuming works of art
  5. Lowering the hassle factor of life
  6. Volunteering for community, national, and international public service
  7. Making enough money to travel to far away places to make great movies and photographs for internet slide shows.
  8. Have a travel blog that has a following and earns lots of income
If money needs to exist then people can borrow enough money to meet minimalist basic needs, education, and medical needs at 0% interest. The loan is paid it back through a lifetime of work. I wrote about this idea in “Newland 2084”. The book elaborates on the premise that people arrange themselves into cooperatives where they aggregate skills, premises, equipment, materials and go into business. One member one vote. Compensate people for time. Divide profits fairly.

Invention How To Sell

This answer is in response to the Quora question I have an invention idea but it's out of my hands to ever do it. How can I sell my idea?.

Newland Cooperative of Minnesota and the book “Newland 2084” deal with how an idea person can help bring a patent claim or any creative product or idea to market by joining in a membership cooperative. Newland Cooperative of Minnesota is an incubator cooperative. It contains a recursive set of membership based cooperatives, one of which is associated with your invention. When your invention grows up and generates income, that income is shared in a manner fair and beneficial to all concerned. You, those who directly helped you, those co-ops who helped you.

Your co-op will be spun off to operate under its own accounting books once it generates taxable income. If your idea includes franchisees, they will all pay a royalty share of their gross income to your cooperative and your co-op recursively does likewise to its parent, all the way to the top. A share of the profit and a share of the royalties flow to the parent co-op or co-ops in a predetermined share arrangement, per a democracy of the co-op membership, subject to rules within each co-op. The minimum royalty from the first dollar of gross income is one part in seven-hundred-twenty parts share of gross income as royalty.

Everybody pays a small gross income royalty back into the Newland Royalty Fund. Your cooperative does. All of your ancestor and descendant co-op pay royalties. Every active Newland co-op pays its royalties. Royalties are based on a share of gross income, which is a transparent factor.

STARTUP YOUR IDEA CO-OP

The starting principle is that a group of inventors, writers, artists, and so forth decide to pool their ideas, patents, copyright, and trademark rights inside a cooperative business. They become members of the Newland Cooperative of Minnesota.

If your invention looks worth developing further it will get members interested in your endeavor in their various social media feeds. Others will will want to become members of your virtual co-operative. That means other inventors, writers, artists, musicians, actors, engineers, materials specialists, prototype builders, lawyers, social media specialists will sign up to help with your invention.

Time investors will flock to your idea. We will vote. Your idea has become our idea, as a virtual co-op housed within NewlandCoop.com. Volunteer will invest time in your effort. Time will be recorded by time invested on task working on all aspects of getting our product to market. As income from sales of your invention arrives it will pay for approved time investments, they will pay expenses and the profit is distributed as patronage, based upon the amount and value of the time invested.

Once you have received your share of the profit and your cup is full, the excess of your cup flows to those most directly involved until their cup is full. The flow of a blockbuster movie fills many cups, initially as transparent royalty income up to their hourly rate and then in the tail of transparent royalty income of residuals.

Is USA an Economic Utopia?

This answer is based upon the Quora question Is the United States an example of an Economic Utopia?

A “Utopia” cannot exist in real space and time because the meaning of the word is “no place”. A utopia is a vision. It lives inside the human brain. The vision of a utopia can be spoken, written down, or presented in some producer work. Another human can hear, read, or consume the utopian vision. Utopia requires easily understood rules. It requires communication from one human brain to another.

OPINION

At the level of our Constitution, we are not a utopia now because of direct taxation of the people. We need an Amendment to our Constitution to abolish Income Tax and replace it with a 10% Sales Tax. It must be a universal gross sales cost that is applied to every currency transactions and has no exemptions. No VAT tax. Rich or poor person. Beggar or investor. Government itself. Church donations. Mortgage. Food. Utilities. Stock market trader. Private jet buyer and flyer. Food, Clothing. If money changes hands taxes are owed. Swapping mass or energy based products is taxable. Other swapped transactions owe taxes on gross sales. If unpaid human time is swapped, no transaction cost are implied. Sales Tax is not collected on time swap transactions. When human time is converted to money taxes on income from human time investments is not taxed.

The gross sale includes an automatic 10% U.S. Sales Tax. Pay off the national debt and then lower the tax rate and see what happens.

If you come up short and can’t pay your basic living, housing, utilities, transportation, education, and medical bills, the Federal Reserve Bank FRB will let you close all credit cards forever and then they will then lend you the money you need at 0% interest to make your other bills. You will pay the 0% interest loan money back over a lifetime of work.

The above described USA would be an Economic Utopia.

LivingVote Governance

Life in a LivingVote™ World

A LivingVote™ governed society, assures humans of the reality, that their LivingVote choice, on some bylaws governance item, really counts. Their vote must count from the moment they first establish they first establish their starting YES setting, on a scale from zero percent to one hundred percent. Voters will watch the aggregate vote patterns change, as they refine their choice. Watching constitutions, laws, agency rules, environmental limits changing, in near real time; it will become the new Reality show.

@KellyannePolls @StephenBannon @transition2017 @realDonaldTrump @LynoMN Use LivingVote polling. Once the vote ballot item is announced it can simply serve as a survey item. If President Trump's team wants to know how voters feel on some matter they need merely add it to voters ballots. A simple phone app can count the number of ballot items needing a first sentiment vote to the words being voted upon.  Vote results stream real time to voter's phones and devices.

Once the aggregate vote stabilizes, for some predetermined interval of time, the  governance item is locked in and sent to quality control where all illogical governance wording gets backed out and figured out later. Anything holding up the arrival of the expected wording gets moved aside. There's songs could be written about the urgency of keeping the Constitution and Laws of the United States of America moving. Maybe these wording changes can someday happen so fast that Watson can be a phone call away with the answer.

Watson can manage the Deltas. The only way to repair wording is to repair all necessary parts simultaneously. Back comes new wording that replaces in its entirety the set of illogical wording. Eventually the whole set of wording passes it final quality assurance test. Then the new set of wording takes effect at once. With a continuous integration and continuous deployment, known as a CI/CD pipeline, the automated rules of the Senate, House, and Governor all understand.

Maybe we'll let a bunch of IBM Watson like computers mutually agree to have the final say, on the entire package of Governance being deployed live into to Production. Once passed the words take effect.  For so long as voters live. they can change their vote on any governance item at any time. When they die, their vote no longer affects governance. It all gets factored in. It is ultimately the will We the People, who must decide these matters, that really count.

Bifurcation Vote

070 Bifurcation Vote

The traditional way of voting is to make the decision once and for all times and be done with it. Changing the governance item requires another vote on the wording changes.

A LivingVote Governance Item

Think how much more effective governance becomes when a coop, corporation, business cost center, project, family business, social club, church, or some other social organization utilizes the LivingVote™ governance means.

LivingVote Governance Changes

090 LivingVote Fluctuations

Excerpts from "Newland 2084"

Within the human behavioral constraints imposed directly or indirectly, by layer upon layer of government, humans are free to enjoy what remains of their privileges, rights, and freedoms. Within the constraints of imposed by government, the co-operative LivingVote™ represents the new art of governance. The LivingVote™ is the preferred decision-making process for matters of basic human affairs, as well as affairs of the polygons, cooperatives, clubs, families, and so forth. The LivingVote™ behavioral pattern is embedded within the startup Newland™ Co-operative behavioral pattern.

A Newland ™ Co-operative is owned and operated by its members. The operational characteristics of every Newland Co-operative are established and adjusted according to the ongoing and evolving LivingVote™. The LivingVote™ represents an emergence behavioral model. Rather than behavioral constraints being handed down from above, in the manner of a command and control hierarchical decision-making process, the LivingVote™ embodies the principles of power and control bubbling up and emerging from below. Every human feels like they have a direct say in matters of every Newland™ Cooperative of which they are a member.

Because Newland™ Member Agreement terms and conditions attain an 80 percent Pass LivingVote™, these conditions will require the corresponding 80 percent Fail LivingVote™ to be changed. This stabilizing characteristic of the LivingVote™ allows Newland™ to better fend off the vagaries of fads faction politics. Political parties have the power in the form of political governance known in ancient times as a Republic. Newland™ Co-operative governance is known in modern times as LivingVote™ Democracy. While it would have been possible to utilize a LivingVote™ governance model in ancient times, it is made practical in modern times with the advent of modern technology such as computers. It is the combination of NetZero™ closed funds established and maintained by the LivingVote™ that is the game changer in civilized society.

Pertaining to co-operatives, anyone wishing to receive any royalty income distribution must participate in all of the LivingVote™ matters put before the membership. The Newland™ Distribution Engine talks with the LivingVote™ Engine, and distributions are bypassed for so long as the LivingVote™ decisions have not been made. There is no such capability as “catching up” on benefits not received. Any member who believes their LivingVote™ choice, concerning any matter, must be changed simply changes their LivingVote™. If enough members change their vote from Yes to No, then the matter switches from Pass to Fail. Even the terms and conditions agreed to within the Newland™ Member Agreement document may change over time.

Likewise, the terms of the and conditions of the Newland™ License may be changed by new, modified, or deleted words changed by the LivingVote™ results on the question. This book, Newland 2084, explains a preferred embodiment among alternatives.

Conclusion

The mechanics of how the LivingVote operates is simple to understand. The social and business impacts may take days, weeks, or months to emerge. These matters are discussed in more detail in the book "Newland 2084" by Lyno.
by Lyno, Saturday, June 25, 2016
